A highlight of our vacation trip was the restaurant Al Mahara, much described underwater restaurant in the 7–star luxury hotel Burj Al Arab. The specialty of this restaurant is not only the exquisite cuisine, but also the huge saltwater aquarium that is placed in the middle of the room. Or in other words, the tables are placed around the aquarium so that you can consider undisturbed the beautiful underwater world while eating.
The futuristic entrance already forms the beginning of an extraordinary experience. The design of the restaurant is all in blue and gold. Around the aquarium border are fish-shaped Baccarat figures. Since Mr Fabulous and I have booked this visit for our anniversary, thats why our table was also nicely decorated.
Al Mahara, ‘The Oyster Shell’ in Arabic, doesn’t just tantalise your palate; it’s a dining experience that will stimulate all your senses. The stunning floor to ceiling aquarium inside the restaurant sets the scene for a meal where only the best will do. Sink into the soft seats and be mesmerised by the world of colourful sea life swimming beside your table, while our team of award-winning chefs prepare you something very Special.

Unusually for a luxury restaurant was the very friendly and relaxed service. Maitre de Service Paul chatted during each course with us. So he kept us amused with witty anecdotes and explained interesting facts about the fishs. A perfect service, with fresh note. Competent, but still not overbearing. I’ve never experienced before!
Mr Fabulous surprised me to our anniversary with this beautiful Rose.
